  • The Dallas Wings are 9-28 and have the worst record in the Western Conference.
  • The Golden State Valkyries, at 18-18, have the fourth-best record out west.
  • These squads previously faced off on Jul. 25, with the Valkyries winning that game 86-76.

One of the games on Sunday’s WNBA slate features the Dallas Wings hosting the Golden State Valkyries. Which team has the edge in our Wings vs Valkyries pick?

Dallas Looks To Snap Four-Game Losing Streak

After securing a one-point victory against Indiana, the Wings have dropped their last four games, including a horrific 95-60 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Storm on Friday.

Any expectations of this being a competitive affair were quickly put to rest early. Seattle grabbed a 12-point lead after the first quarter. And a layup by Dominique Malonga gave the Storm a 48-34 advantage at the break.

In the second half, it was more of the same, as the Storm outscored Dallas by a 48-26 margin, including a 28-15 edge in the final frame. Maddy Siegrist was the Wings’ top scorer. She finished with 12 points and five boards. Paige Bueckers, who posted 44 points in her previous outing, contributed 11 points and two rebounds.

This recent loss dropped Dallas to 1-23 when trailing at intermission this season.

Valkyries Aim To End Recent Three-Game Slide

Following a 90-59 rout against the Sky, Golden State enters this conference tilt amid a three-game losing streak. Their latest setback was an 81-72 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night.

Golden State struggled in this one, trailing by double digits at the break, as the team produced just 31 points. Phoenix stretched its advantage to 67-54 after the third and held on for a nine-point victory en route to its 22nd win of the season.

Janelle Salaun scored a team-high 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field. Veronica Burton’s final stat line consisted of 11 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and two blocks. The Valkyries shot 37.3 percent overall and 25.8 percent from beyond the arc.

Wings vs Valkyries WNBA Pick

Dallas is ninth in scoring and 12th in points allowed per game (87.4). On the other side, Golden State is ranked ninth in offensive efficiency and has the sixth-best defensive rating in the association.

The season series is tied at 1-1, with each team winning on its home floor. Given that the Valkyries are the superior defensive unit, the edge goes to them in this matchup.
