• The Valkyries are 23-18 and earned a postseason berth in their inaugural season.
  • The Lynx are 32-9 and have the best record in the league.
  • These teams previously squared off on Jul. 5, with the Lynx claiming an 82-71 victory.

One of the games on Saturday’s WNBA slate features the Golden State Valkyries hosting the Minnesota Lynx. Who comes out on top in our Valkyries vs Lynx pick?

Valkyries Looking To Make It Six Straight

Following an 81-72 setback against the Mercury, Golden State has won five straight games. This includes an 84-80 victory against the Dallas Wings on Thursday.

The Valkyries trailed 41-32 at the break. Fortunately, they bounced back in the second half, outscoring Dallas by a 52-39 margin en route to their 23rd win of the season. Even more important, they became the first WNBA team to earn a playoff berth in its first season.

Janelle Salaun scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed six rebounds. Veronica Burton added 15 points, five assists, and three rebounds.

Minnesota Aims To Bounce Back From Recent Loss To Aces

The Lynx saw their two-game win streak snapped, courtesy of a 97-87 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday.

A buzzer-beater layup from Chelsea Gray gave the Aces a four-point lead going into the fourth quarter. A’ja Wilson knocked down her only 3-pointer of the contest midway through the final frame, giving Las Vegas a 10-point advantage.

Wilson was one of four starters who reached double figures. She paced the offense with 31 points, eight boards, and two blocked shots. Jackie Young contributed 20 points and five rebounds. She also shot 4-for-6 from 3-point range.

Valkyries vs Lynx WNBA Pick

Golden State is 10th in scoring, but ranks first in points allowed, surrendering just 76.5 points per outing. Meanwhile, Minnesota is ranked first in both offensive and defensive efficiency.

The Lynx have won both matchups against Golden State this season. And although they’ve already clinched homecourt advantage throughout the postseason, look for them to emerge victorious in the Western Conference showdown.
