One of the games on Thursday’s WNBA slate features the Golden State Valkyries hosting the Indiana Fever. Can Indiana make it three straight in our Valkyries vs Fever pick?
Valkyries Hope To Bounce Back From Loss Against Dallas
Golden State’s three-game win streak was upended thanks to an 80-71 loss against the Dallas Wings on Tuesday night.
Monique Billings was the headline performer for the Valkyries. She scored a team-high 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting. She also had eight rebounds and two blocks. Kayla Thornton added 17 points and five rebounds. Laeticia Amihere and Tiffany Hayes combined to score 24 points off the bench.
The game was tied at 70 in the fourth quarter before the Wings pulled away. Paige Bueckers knocked down a free-throw line jumper. Arike Ogunbowale hit a 3-pointer for a 75-70 advantage. Dallas outscored Golden State 22-14 in the game’s final 10 minutes on its way to a nine-point victory.
Indiana Aiming For Third Consecutive Victory
The Fever suffered a 77-58 loss against the Atlanta Dream nine days ago. Since that setback, the Fever have won their last two games. This includes an 88-71 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday.
Caitlin Clark was one of four Fever players who reached double figures. She finished with 20 points, six assists, and two steals. Kelsey Mitchell added 17 points and Natasha Howard contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Indiana led 50-43 with 8:15 left in the third quarter and held Connecticut without a field goal for nearly six minutes, which extended the lead to 12 points at the 2:49 mark.
Valkyries vs Fever WNBA Pick
Golden State is 10th in scoring and is No. 8 in points allowed per game. Conversely, the Fever are fourth in offensive efficiency and have the third-best defenisve rating in the league, allowing 98.4 points per 100 possessions.
Although the Valkyries are off to a respectable start for an expansion team, Indiana has the edge in this east vs west matchup.
