  • The Connecticut Sun are 3-20 and have the worst record in the league.
  • The expansion Golden State Valkyries are 11-12 and occupy the No. 4 spot in the conference race out west.
  • These teams previously faced off on Jun. 22, with the Valkyries cruising to an 87-63 victory.

One of the games on Sunday’s WNBA slate features the Connecticut Sun hosting the Golden State Valkyries. Will Connecticut get back into the win column in our Sun vs Valkyries pick?

Sun Look To End Four-Game Slide

Connecticut notched an impressive 93-83 victory against the Seattle Storm nearly three weeks ago. Since then, the Sun have dropped their last four games, including a 101-86 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night.

Despite its woeful record, the Sun kept this game competitive initially, trailing 45-44 at the break. Unfortunately, a 3-pointer from Azura Stevens early in the third quarter ignited a key 17-5 run that gave Los Angeles a 64-54 lead with 4:45 left in the period.

Connecticut was outscored 24-18 in the final frame, enabling the Sparks to cruise to their fourth straight victory. Tina Charles produced a solid outing, finishing with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Olivia Nelson-Ododa added 17 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the floor.

Golden State Looks To Dominate Connecticut In Second Matchup This Season

The Valkyries recently ended a three-game skid with an 86-76 victory against the Dallas Wings on Friday night.

Golden State got off to a slow start and trailed 36-30 at halftime. But thanks to a 33-24 scoring edge in the third quarter, the Valkyries flipped a six-point deficit into a 63-60 lead entering the fourth quarter.

After Wings guard Paige Bueckers tied the game at 71-71, Golden State concluded the contest with a 15-5 burst to claim its 11th win of the season.

Tiffany Hayes was one of four players to reach double figures. She scored 17 points and handed out five assists. Janelle Salaun contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Sun vs Valkyries WNBA Pick

Connecticut is ranked last in both scoring and points allowed per outing (88.5). Meanwhile, although Golden State is ranked 10th in offensive efficiency, it has the third-best defensive rating in the association (allowing 100.8 points per 100 possessions).

The Valkyries won the previous matchup between the franchises by 24 points. Given the Sun’s struggles at both ends of the floor, look for Golden State to come out on top here as well.
