One of the games on Sunday’s WNBA slate features the Connecticut Sun hosting the Indiana Fever. Will Connecticut make it two straight in our Sun vs Fever pick?
Connecticut Seeks First Two-Game Win Streak Of The Season
The Sun, who have the league’s worst record, ended a five-game skid with a 71-62 victory against the Chicago Sky on Wednesday night.
Connecticut led 60-45 after the third quarter. But thanks to an 11-0 burst to begin the fourth quarter, the deficit was sliced to four points. After the Sun extended the lead to eight points, Chicago’s Elizabeth Williams’ three-point play got the road team within 67-62.
However, Connecticut scored the last four points of the contest en route to its sixth win of the season. Leila Lacan scored a team-high 17 points, along with five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Tina Charles registered 15 points on 7-for-14 shooting from the field.
Fever Hope To Avoid Fifth Loss In Six Games
Meanwhile, Indiana has dropped four of its previous five games, including an 88-84 defeat at the hands of the Washington Mystics on Friday night.
The Fever led by seven points after the first quarter before Washington rallied to get within two points (64-62) heading into the fourth quarter. The Mystics went up by four points (86-82) after Jade Melbourne hit one of two free throws.
Aliyah Boston converted a layup with 5.9 seconds left to play. But Melbourne knocked down two more from the charity stripe to secure the win for the road team.
Boston led the Fever with 20 points and nine rebounds, connecting on nine of her 13 shot attempts. Kelsey Mitchell chipped in with 14 points and nine assists for an Indiana team that has had a difficult time producing wins recently.
Sun vs Fever WNBA Pick
Connecticut ranks last in offensive efficiency and has the second-worst defensive rating in the league. On the other side, Indiana is fourth in scoring and ranks eighth in points allowed per game (81.7).
The Sun hold a 3-2 edge in the previous five meetings. Conversely, Indiana has taken two of the three matchups this season. With that in mind, the Fever will come out on top against an inferior opponent.
