• The Los Angeles Sparks are 13-15 and have the second-worst record in the Western Conference.
  • The Connecticut Sun are 5-23 and have the worst record in the league.
  • These teams clashed on Jul. 24, with the Sparks claiming a 101-86 victory.

One of the games on Thursday’s WNBA slate features the Los Angeles Sparks hosting the Connecticut Sun. Can Los Angeles extend its winning streak in our Sparks vs Sun pick?

Sizzling Sparks Have Won Seven Of Their Last Eight

A 15-point loss against the Las Vegas Aces snapped the Sparks’ five-game winning streak. But they have bounced back with wins in their last two games, including a 100-91 victory against the Indiana Fever.

Los Angeles led by 11 points at the break, and increased its advantage to 22 points (90-68) midway through the fourth quarter. Indiana used a 21-5 burst to close within 95-89 before Rickea Jackson’s fifth straight 3-point shot pushed the lead back to nine points, securing the win for the Sparks.

The Sparks’ offense featured a balanced attack in which four players reached double figures. Kelsey Plum scored 25 points and dished out 11 assists. Jackson also finished with 25, and like Plum, she knocked down three of her five attempts from long range.

Connecticut Hopes To Snap Two-Game Losing Skid

After an improbable 78-62 win against the New York Liberty, the Sun have dropped their last two games, including an 82-66 defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Mercury.

Unfortunately for the Sun, this game was over in a hurry. They opened the contest with a 2-for-16 effort in the opening quarter. The result was a 26-6 deficit, and Connecticut trailed the rest of the game.

Marina Mabrey and Tina Charles powered the team’s offense. Mabrey led the way with 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Charles contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots in a losing effort.

Sparks vs Sun WNBA Pick

Los Angeles is not a great defensive squad, as it has the third-worst defensive rating in the association. However, the Sparks are a top-five squad from an offensive efficiency standpoint. Meanwhile, Connecticut is ranked last in scoring (74.5 PPG) and 12th in points allowed per contest (86.9).

The Sun swept the four-game regular-season slate between these teams in 2024. However, Los Angeles has taken both matchups this season. Going against a team with only five wins and struggles at both ends of the court means the Sparks should win this one by a sizeable margin.
