  • The Los Angeles Sparks are 14-16 and have the second-worst record out west.
  • The Storm are 16-15 and have the fourth-best record in the Western Conference.
  • These squads previously faced off on Aug. 1, with the Sparks winning that contest 108-106.

One of the games on Sunday’s WNBA slate features the Los Angeles Sparks hosting the Seattle Storm. Which team has the edge in our Sparks vs Storm pick?

Los Angeles Shooting For Its Fourth Win In Five Games

Los Angeles saw its three-game win streak end with a 72-59 loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Saturday night.

The Sparks trailed 33-23 in a low-scoring first half. And they managed to trim the deficit to 43-40, but did not get any closer the rest of the way.

Dearica Hamby pumped in 15 points along with three rebounds on eight shot attempts. Julie Allemand and Rae Burrell contributed 10 points each for an LA squad that posted a conversion rate of 32.8 percent overall and 23.5 percent from 3-point range.

The Storm Look To End Four-Game Skid

After posting a 101-85 win against the Connecticut Sun on Jul. 28, Seattle has dropped its last four games, including a 90-86 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Friday night.

The Storm trailed 63-44 at the midway point of the third quarter. But thanks to a 17-6 burst to close the third quarter and a 7-0 run to start the fourth, the road team closed within 71-70.

Dominque Malonga’s three-point play tied the game at 75 with 5:38 left to play. Jackie Young scored the next five points and hit a key 3-pointer 51 seconds remaining that gave the Aces a 90-84 advantage, a lead they would not relinquish.

Malonga paced the offense with 22 points, and 12 rebounds off the bench. Erica Wheeler added 16 points and two assists.

Sparks vs Storm WNBA Pick

Los Angeles has the third-highest scoring average in the league, but ranks last in points allowed (88.2 PPG). Meanwhile, Seattle is ranked ninth in offensive efficiency and has the second-lowest defensive rating (100.6 Points Per 100 Possessions).

The Sparks have dropped four of the previous five meetings between these franchises. Taking that into consideration, look for the Storm to get back on track when these conference rivals square off on Sunday night.
