One of the games on Thursday’s WNBA slate features the Los Angeles Sparks hosting the Minnesota Lynx. Which Western Conference team has the edge in our Sparks vs Lynx pick?

Los Angeles Seeks Second Consecutive Win

The Sparks recently snapped a two-game skid with an 89-87 victory against the Indiana Fever on Jul. 5.

In what was a competitive game throughout, the Sparks took an 88-87 lead after a basket by Rickea Jackson with 57.4 seconds left in regulation.

Azura Stevens hit one of two free throws, extending the lead to 89-87. Indiana’s Aliyah Boston missed a game-tying jumper, which secured the win for Los Angeles.

Stevens was one of four starters who reached double figures. She scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Kelsey Plum logged 20 points, three rebounds, and three assists, and connected on four of her eight attempts from beyond the arc.

Lynx Aim To Bounce Back From Loss To Phoenix

Minnesota saw its six-game win streak snapped following a 79-71 loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lynx led by five points heading into the final frame and held a 67-60 advantage at the 5:45 mark. However, Phoenix ramped up its defensive intensity, closing the contest with a devastating 19-4 run. During that stretch, the Mercury held Minnesota to just two field goals.

Courtney Williams was the team’s top performer, finishing with 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists on 50 percent shooting from the field.

Napheesa Collier added 18 points and seven rebounds for a Lynx squad that was outscored 27-14 in the game’s final 10 minutes.

Sparks vs Lynx WNBA Pick

Los Angeles is seventh in points per game and has the third-worst scoring defense, allowing 86.9 points per contest. At the other end of the spectrum, Minnesota is head and shoulders above the field in offensive and defensive efficiency.

The Sparks have dropped all three matchups against the Lynx this season, with each loss coming by double digits. That trend is expected to continue when these conference foes square off on Thursday afternoon.
