One of the games on Thursday’s WNBA slate features the Chicago Sky hosting the Seattle Storm. Which squad gets back into the win column in our Sky vs Storm pick?

Sky Look To Bounce Back From Double-Digit Loss Against Minnesota

Chicago comes into this showdown amid a three-game losing skid. This includes a 91-68 setback against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday night.

Chicago led 24-18 after the opening stanza, but could not sustain its early success. Minnesota surged ahead for good over the next two quarters, outscoring the Sky by a sizeable 52-28 margin. That game-defining stretch enabled the Lynx to cruise to an easy victory.

Kia Nurse powered Chicago’s offense with 16 points and eight rebounds on 50 percent shooting overall and 3-for-5 from long range. Angel Reese added 11 points and 11 rebounds. However, she also accounted for nine of the Sky’s 21 turnovers.

Seattle Hopes To Regroup Following An Abysmal Performance Against Dallas

After a 79-65 victory against the Connecticut Sun on Jul. 11, the Storm have dropped two of their previous three outings, including a surprising 87-63 defeat at the hands of the Dallas Wings.

Seattle was ahead 36-26 at the 1:33 mark in the second quarter, before Dallas concluded the first half with an 8-0 burst, cutting the deficit to 36-34.

Unfortunately, things got worse for the Storm, as Dallas outscored them by a decisive 53-27 margin in the second half, including a 32-15 advantage in the third quarter.

Nneka Ogwumike was one of three starters who reached double figures. She led the team with 22 points on 10-for-19 shooting. Gabby Williams contributed 14 points, six rebounds, and four steals for a Seattle squad that shot 30.7 percent overall, including a woeful 19 percent conversion rate from 3-point range.

Sky vs Storm WNBA Pick

Despite a lackluster effort against Dallas, the Storm enter this contest as a nine-point favorite according to BetOnline. Here are a few trends to consider for both teams ahead of this matchup.

  • The Sky are 7-18 straight-up (SU) in their last 25 games.
  • Chicago is 2-5 ATS in its previous seven home outings against Seattle.
  • The Storm are 11-5 straight-up (SU) across their last 16 contests.
  • Seattle has covered the spread four times in its previous six road matchups.

Although Chicago has won three of the previous five matchups, it has the third-worst record in the league. With that in mind, look for Seattle to win this one convincingly.
