One of the games on Saturday’s WNBA slate features the Chicago Sky hosting the Minnesota Lynx. Can Chicago hold its own against Minnesota in our Sky vs Lynx pick?
Sky Look To Build On Double-Digit Win Against Dallas
Following back-to-back losses against the Minnesota Lynx and Washington Mystics, the Sky responded with an 87-76 win against the Dallas Wings on Wednesday night.
Chicago led 45-37 at the break and used a 13-2 burst that resulted in a 67-57 advantage with 2:20 left in the third quarter. A free throw by JJ Quinerly helped Dallas get within five points at the 3:37 mark in the final frame.
However, second-year forward Angel Reese hit a layup and converted a three-point play to push Chicago’s lead back to 11 points down the stretch.
Rebecca Allen led all scorers with 27 points, along with six rebounds, three assists, and three blocks. Reese notched her 13th double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Chicago is seeking its first win against Minnesota since September 2023.
Minnesota Aiming For Seventh Win In Its Last Eight Outings
Following a 79-71 loss against the Phoenix Mercury, which snapped a five-game win streak, the Lynx got back into the win column by posting a 91-82 win against the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night.
Minnesota trailed 26-22 after the opening quarter before outscoring Los Angeles by a 58-33 margin over the middle two quarters. This stretch was highlighted by a 30-19 scoring edge in the quarter in which the road team shot 56.5 percent from the field.
The Lynx led by as many as 27 points in the fourth quarter before holding on for a nine-point victory. Natasha Hiedeman, who comes off the bench, led the scoring charge with 18 points on 7-for-12 shooting.
Napheesa Collier logged 17 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Alanna Smith contributed 15 points, five boards, and two steals.
Sky vs Lynx WNBA Pick
Chicago is not a good team at either end of the floor, ranking 11th in both points per game and scoring defense. Meanwhile, Minnesota continues to lead the league in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Additionally, this group also has the best point differential at plus-10.2 per contest.
The Lynx have won four of the previous five meetings between these franchises, including a five-point victory in the most recent matchup. Given that trend and Chicago’s shortcomings at both ends of the floor, look for the Lynx to win this one handily.
