One of the games on Monday’s WNBA slate features the Chicago Sky hosting the Las Vegas Aces. Can Chicago slow down Las Vegas in our Sky vs Aces pick?
Chicago Looks To Get Back Into The Win Column
The Sky enter this matchup having dropped six of their last seven games, including a 94-84 loss against the Connecticut Sun on Saturday.
Chicago trailed by double digits after the first quarter (28-13) and by as many as 21 points in the third quarter. While the home team managed to get within five points in the final frame, Connecticut’s Bria Hartley hit a back-breaking 3-pointer that pushed the Sun’s lead back to 10 points.
Kia Nurse and Kamilla Cardoso were the Sky’s top performers. Nurse paced the offense with 19 points, connecting on five of her nine attempts from deep. Cardoso registered 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists for a Chicago team that was recently eliminated from postseason contention.
Aces Aim To Extend Win Streak To 11 Games
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Las Vegas has looked virtually unstoppable, having posted wins in each of their last 10 outings. Their latest triumph includes a 91-81 victory over the Washington Mystics.
Las Vegas trailed by 15 points before cutting the early deficit to seven points (26-19) after the first quarter. But a 25-13 scoring edge in the second quarter helped the Aces take a 44-39 advantage into the break. Las Vegas increased its lead to 18 points before holding on for a 10-point victory.
A’ja Wilson, powered the offense with 36 points, 13 boards, and two rejections while shooting 14-for-22 from the field. Dana Evans put up 21 points, along with three rebounds and three assists. Las Vegas shot 52.3 percent overall and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
Sky vs Aces WNBA Pick
Chicago struggles at both ends of the floor, ranking 12th in scoring and 11th in points allowed per game (86.4). Meanwhile, Las Vegas is ranked sixth in offensive efficiency and has the ninth-best defensive rating in the league.
Las Vegas has won four of the previous five matchups between the franchises. Given that trend, and Chicago’s inconsistent play this season, the Aces win this one easily.
