• The Washington Mystics are 8-10 and have the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference.
  • The Chicago Sky are 5-12 and have the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference.
  • These teams previously faced off on Jun. 17, with the Mystics claiming a 79-72 victory.

One of the games on Tuesday’s WNBA slate features the Washington Mystics hosting the Chicago Sky. Can Washington turn things around against Chicago in our Mystics vs Sky pick?

Mystics Look to Snap Two-Game Skid

Following a season-high three-game win streak, Washington has dropped its last two games, including a 92-75 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Jul. 3.

The Mystics stayed close early, trailing 43-38 at the break. However, Minnesota broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring Washington by a 27-14 margin. Lucy Olsen and Aaliyah Edwards, who are both part of the second unit, were the headline performers for Washington.

Olsen scored 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting and shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. Edwards finished with 15 points and six rebounds, converting six of her seven shot attempts.

Washington committed 20 turnovers, which led to 28 points for Minnesota. Additionally, the Lynx enjoyed a decisive 52-36 edge in points in the paint.

Chicago Looks To Bounce Back From Loss Against Minnesota

After notching a 97-86 victory against the Los Angeles Sparks on Jun. 24, the Sky have dropped two of their last three contests. This includes a five-point loss against the Lynx on Sunday night.

The Sky were clicking on all cylinders initially, leading 24-10 after the first quarter. Unfortunately, a 25 percent shooting effort in the second quarter ignited a 16-4 run for the Lynx, which resulted in Chicago trailing 38-37 at the break.

After Minnesota took a 76-70 lead with 27 seconds left in regulation, Rachel Banham knocked down a 3-pointer to get the road team within 77-75 with 17 seconds left.

Lynx guard Kayla McBride converted one of two free throws, extending Minnesota’s advantage to 78-75. Chicago had a chance to send the game into overtime, but Alanna Smith blocked Banham’s three-point attempt, and Minnesota went on to win the game 80-75.

Mystics vs Sky WNBA Pick

Washington has the third-worst offensive rating and is ranked eighth in defensive efficiency. Meanwhile, Chicago is ranked 12th in both points per game (78.8) and scoring defense, allowing 87.7 points per contest.

The Mystics have won four of the previous five meetings between the franchises. And while neither team can be considered elite, Washington has enough talent to emerge victorious in this Eastern Conference battle.
