One of the games on Sunday’s WNBA slate features the Washington Mystics hosting the Indiana Fever. Who has the edge in our Mystics vs Fever pick?
Mystics Look To Snap Eight-Game Slide
After a two-game win streak, Washington has dropped eight straight. Their latest setback was a 75-69 defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Mercury.
The Mystcis trailed trailed 44-36 at the break. But thanks to a 7-0 run, they pulled within 71-69 at the 1:06 mark in the fourth quarter. A crucial 3-pointer from Satou Sabally and DeWanna Bonner’s free throw helped Phoenix hold on for the six-point victory.
Kiki Iriafen led the way with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Shakira Austin added 15 points, 10 boards and three dimes.
Indiana Aiming For Its Second Straight Postseason Appearance
The Fever snapped their two-game losing streak with a 97-77 victory against the Chicago Sky on Friday night.
Thanks to connecting on 10 of 14 shots, Indiana raced out to a 31-15 lead after the first quarter, making the rest of the contest a mere formality.
Kelsey Mitchell poured in a team-high 20 points and dished out eight assists. Natasha Howard registered 18 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.
A win against Washington would earn the Fever back-to-back playoff berths for the first time since 2015-16.
Mystics vs Fever WNBA Pick
Washington is 11th in scoring and ranks seventh in points allowed per game (81.4). Meanwhile, Indiana has the fourth-best offensive rating and ranks seventh in defensive efficiency.
The Mystics have taken two of three head-to-head matchups this season and have won four of the previous five meetings in this series. But given Washington’s eight-game skid and the fact that Indiana is fighting for a playoff berth, the edge goes to the road team.
