One of the games on Tuesday’s WNBA slate features the Phoenix Mercury hosting the Los Angeles Sparks. Who has the edge in our Mercury vs Sparks pick?
Mercury Hope To Bounce Back From Loss To Connecticut
Phoenix saw its six-game win streak snapped, courtesy of an 87-84 loss to the Connecticut Sun on Saturday night.
In a contest that went back and forth through the first three quarters, it was only fitting that the game was tied at 81-81 late in the fourth quarter. Connecticut’s Leila Lecan coverted a layup and two free throws, giving the Sun a four-point advantage.
Satou Sabally responded with a 3-pointer. But Lecan iced the game with two more free throws, helping Connecticut pull off an improbable victory.
Kahleah Copper scored a team-high 18 points on 5-for-14 shooting overall and 2-of-9 from 3-point range. Alyssa Thomas added 14 points, 10 assists and eight boards for a Phoenix squad that shot 40.8 percent from the field.
Los Angeles Looks To Finish Season Strong
The Sparks ended a two-game skid with a 91-77 victory against the Dallas Wings on Sunday.
Los Angeles held a nine-point lead at break before Dallas fought back, trimming the deficit to 66-64 heading into the final frame. Over the final 10 minutes, the Sparks played like a team fighting to keep their faint postseason hopes alive, outscoring the Wings by a decisive 25-13 margin.
Julie Allemand paced LA’s offense with 21 points, five steals, and four assists. Dearica Hamby contributed 15 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
