One of the games on Thursday’s WNBA slate features the Phoenix Mercury hosting the Indiana Fever. Can Phoenix make it three straight in our Mercury vs Fever pick?
Phoenix Aiming For Third Consecutive Victory
After back-to-back losses against the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, the Mercury have won two straight. This includes an 82-66 victory against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night.
Phoenix and its defense seized control of the game early, limiting Connecticut to 2-for-16 shooting in the first quarter. This resulted in a 26-6 advantage, a lead the Mercury did not relinquish.
Satou Sabally was one of four players who reached double figures. She led the way with 23 points and six rebounds. DeWanna Bonner added 18 points and seven boards off the bench.
Fever Look To Regroup From Loss Against Los Angeles
Indiana’s five-game win streak was snapped by a 100-91 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday.
The Fever trailed 54-43 at the break and 90-68 at the 6:23 mark in the final frame. However, a 21-5 run got them within 95-89 before Rickea Jackson knocked her fifth consecutive 3-pointer to help secure the win for Los Angeles.
Kelsey Mitchell put together a solid performance for Indiana. She finished with 34 points and six assists on 11-for-19 shooting overall and 7-for-12 from 3. Natasha Howard contributed 17 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
Mercury vs Fever WNBA Pick
Phoenix ranks sixth in offensive rating and fourth in defensive efficiency. Meanwhile, Indiana has the fourth-highest scoring average and is eighth in points allowed per contest (81.4).
The Mercury have dropped the last five meetings in this series. On the flip side of the narrative, Phoenix is 8-2 in its previous 10 home matchups against the Fever. With that in mind, the Mercury come out on top in this one.
