One of the games on Friday’s WNBA slate features the Phoenix Mercury hosting the Las Vegas Aces. Which team has the edge in our Mercury vs Aces pick?
Phoenix Looks To Regroup From Setback Against Atlanta
The Mercury saw their three-game win streak snapped, courtesy of a 74-66 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Aug. 10.
Phoenix trimmed what was a 17-point lead down to five points heading into intermission. The teams were tied at 48-48 in the third quarter before Jordin Canada knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Dream a three-point advantage, and they stayed ahead the rest of the way.
Alyssa Thomas was solid, scoring a team-high 21 points, along with eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals. DeWanna Bonner led the second unit with 16 points and four rebounds.
Aces Aiming For Their Sixth Consecutive Victory
Las Vegas comes into this Western Conference showdown riding an impressive five-game win streak. This includes an 83-77 victory against the New York Liberty on Wednesday night.
The Aces trailed by two points (63-61) entering the fourth quarter. But over the game’s final 10 minutes, they outscored the defending champs by a 22-14 margin, with 15 of those points coming from the charity stripe.
A’ja Wilson led the way with 17 points and 16 boards for her 15th double-double of the season. Jackie Young contributed 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. This marked Las Vegas’ first regular-season victory against the Liberty since August of 2023.
