- These teams previously faced off on May 23, with the Lynx winning that game 76-70.
One of the games on Sunday’s WNBA slate features the Minnesota Lynx hosting the Connecticut Sun. Which team gets back into the win column in our Lynx vs Sun pick?
Minnesota Seeking Fifth Win In Its Last Six Games
After a 94-84 setback against the Seattle Storm 18 days ago, the Lynx have produced four wins in their previous five outings. This includes an 96-92 win against the Atlanta Dream on Friday night.
Minnesota’s offense featured a balanced attack in which four starters reached double figures. Napheesa Collier led the way with 26 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two blocks. Kayla McBride added 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists on 5-of-11 shooting overall and 2-for-6 from beyond the arc.
The Lynx led by as many as 17 points (45-28) in the second quarter. However, the Dream battled back to take a seven-point lead in the final frame. The home team was unable to protect the lead, and the game went into overtime after Atlanta failed to get a good shot attempt on its final possession in regulation.
Thanks to a pair of successful challenges, along with four free throws from Kayla McBride in the final 17.5 seconds, the Lynx secured a four-point victory.
The Sun Look To End Eight-Game Losing Skid
Connecticut has struggled since an eight-point win against the Atlanta Dream back on Jun. 6. Since that time, the Sun have dropped eight straight, including a 97-81 loss to the Seattle Storm on Friday.
Aneesah Morrow led the Sun with 20 points and 11 boards off the bench. Bria Hartley contributed 19 points, six assists, and four rebounds on 7-for-13 shooting overall and 3-for-6 from 3-point range.
The Sun trailed by a 52-38 margin at the break, and it only got worse from there. Seattle opened the third period with an 18-5 burst, giving the Strom a 70-43 advantage.
And thanks to Seattle’s 30-17 scoring edge in the third quarter, the home team increased its lead to 27 points heading into the final frame.
Lynx vs Sun WNBA Pick
Given that Minnesota has the best record in the league, its should not surprise anyone that this group excels at both ends of the floor. The Lynx are ranked second in offensive rating and first in defensive efficiency.
At the other end of the spectrum, Connecticut is last in points per contest (70.9) and has the second-worst scoring defense in the association, surrendering 87.4 points per game.
The Sun hold a 3-2 edge in the last five meetings between these teams. However, Minnesota has won the last two matchups, which includes a six-point victory in late May. Considering Connecticut’s struggles this season, Minnesota should have little trouble coming out on top when these teams take the court on Sunday night.
