One of the games on Thursday’s WNBA slate features the Minnesota Lynx hosting the Washington Mystics. Which team has the edge in our Lynx vs Mystics pick?
Minnesota Looking To Bounce Back From Disappointing Showing In Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game
After securing back-to-back wins against the Atlanta Dream and Chicago Sky, the Lynx were no match for the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night, losing the game by a 74-59 margin.
Alanna Smith led the charge with 15 points and five rebounds. Napheesa Collier chipped in with 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals. On the flip side of the narrative, she converted only six of her 18 shot attempts.
Minnesota held a 13-point lead early on before Indiana ended the first half on an impressive 18-0 run to take a 32-27 lead into the break. The Fever extended their lead to double digits in the third quarter, thanks to 10 points from Natasha Howard, and Minnesota never got closer than seven points the rest of the way.
The Mystics Seeking Their Fourth Win In Five Games
After a three-game win streak, Washington suffered a 79-71 defeat at the hands of the Dallas Wings on Saturday night.
Sonia Citron was one of three players who reached double figures. She scored a team-high 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Shakira Austin added 18 points and three rebounds while shooting 6-for-15 from the floor. Sug Sutton contributed 12 points and three assists in 30 minutes of action.
The game appeared to be over before it started, as the Mystics trailed 28-9 after the first quarter. But thanks to a 12-0 burst to start the third quarter, Washington got within 45-43.
Unfortunately, the Wings pushed the lead back to 15 points after an 8-0 run later in the third quarter and a 7-0 blitz to start the final frame. Washington shot just 34.4 percent overall and 27.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Lynx vs Mystics WNBA Pick
Minnesota is the cream of the crop, ranking first in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Meanwhile, the Mystics are 11th in points per game and seventh in scoring defense, giving up 80.1 points per contest.
The Lynx have won four of the previous five meetings between the franchises, with two of the victories being by double-digit margins. With that in mind, look for Minnesota to emerge victorious when these teams take the court on Thursday night.
