• The New York Liberty are 22-15 and have the second-best record in the East.
  • The Connecticut Sun are 9-27 and tied with the Sky for the worst record in the Eastern Conference.
  • These squads previously faced off on Aug. 3, with the Liberty winning by an 87-78 margin.

One of the games on Monday’s WNBA slate features the New York Liberty hosting the Connecticut Sun. Can Connecticut extend its win streak to a season-best four games in our Liberty vs Sun pick?

New York Aims To End Two-Game Skid

After securing an 85-75 victory against Minnesota, the Liberty have dropped their last two contests, including a 78-62 setback against the Atlanta Dream on Saturday.

New York trailed 24-14 after the opening stanza and by as many as 26 points in the third quarter. Although a 15-0 burst pulled the defending champs within 11 points, they got no closer than that the rest of the way.

Kennedy Burke led the team with 13 points and five rebounds off the bench. Jonquel Jones finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Atlanta won the rebounding battle by nine and enjoyed a 21-7 advantage in second-chance points.

Sun Hope To Extend Win Streak To Four Games

Following a 99-93 overtime loss against the Fever, Connecticut enters this matchup riding a three-game win streak. This includes a 94-84 victory against the Chicago Sky on Saturday.

The Sun held a 28-13 lead after the first quarter and increased their advantage to 21 points with 3:21 left to play in the third quarter. Chicago made a game of it, trimming the deficit to four points with five minutes left in regulation.

However, Bria Hartley’s 3-pointer pushed the lead back to 10 points (89-79), enabling Connecticut to hold on for a double-digit victory. Four players topped double figures for the road team.

Tina Charles’ 200th career double-double included 23 points and 10 rebounds. Hartley also tallied 23 points, along with four assists and two rebounds.

Liberty vs Sun WNBA Pick

New York is ranked fourth in offensive efficiency and has the sixth-best defensive rating in the league. Meanwhile, Connecticut is ranked last in points per game and 10th in scoring defense (85.3 PPG).

The Liberty have won two of the three meetings between the franchises this season. And while Breanna Stewart is still missing from the rotation with a lingering knee injury, New York has enough talent to beat an opponent that is tied for the second-worst record in the association.
