Liberty Looking To Make It Five Straight
Following a 79-70 setback against the Seattle Storm on Jul. 6, the Liberty have bounced back with four straight wins, including a 98-84 victory over the Fever on Tuesday night.
New York trailed the short-handed Fever 46-42 at the break. But thanks to a 56-38 scoring advantage in the second half, the defending champs notched their second straight victory against Indiana.
The Liberty’s offense featured six players who reached double figures, including the entire starting five. Jonquel Jones, who returned from an ankle injury, led the way with 18 points. Breanna Stewart and Leonie Fiebich both finished with 17 points each.
New York is seeking its first win against the Mercury this season.
Phoenix Determined To Snap Two-Game Losing Streak
After an impressive three-game win streak, the Mercury have dropped each of their last two games, including a 98-79 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday.
Phoenix trailed by 13 points in the fourth quarter before back-to-back three-point baskets from Sami Whitcomb trimmed the deficit to seven points. But Brittney Griner responded with a layup to push the lead back to nine points, helping Atlanta hold on for the victory.
DeWanna Bonner led the way with 18 points off the bench on 5-for-11 shooting. Satou Sabally added 13 points and shot 3-for-7 from beyond the arc.
