  • The New York Liberty are 20-10 and have a slim one-game lead for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
  • The Minnesota Lynx have the best record in the league, posting 26 wins through their first 31 games.
  • These squads previously faced off on Jul. 30, with the Lynx claiming a 100-93 victory.

One of the games on Sunday’s WNBA slate features the New York Liberty hosting the Minnesota Lynx. Which team stays hot in our Liberty vs Lynx pick?

Defending Champs Look To Make It Four Straight

After four straight losses, the Liberty have produced wins in each of their last three contests. Their latest triumph includes an 88-77 victory against the Dallas Wings on Friday night.

New York’s 16-point advantage was trimmed to seven points through the first three quarters. But a 13-1 run to start the fourth quarter gave the Liberty an insurmountable 77-58 lead en route to notching its 20th win of the season.

Six players reached double figures, including all five starters. Sabrina Ionescu scored a team-high 16 points, along with six rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Leonie Fiebich, Jonquel Jones, and Emma Meesseman each finished with 14 points apiece.

Minnesota Sets Its Sights On Extending Win Streak To Five Games

The Lynx are playing some good basketball as well, having won each of their last four games. This includes an 80-76 victory against the Washington Mystics on Friday.

After Minnesota flipped an early seven-point deficit into a three-point advantage, the teams battled back and forth in the second half. Sonia Citron knocked down a 3-pointer, tying the game at 76-76 with 59 seconds left to play.

Courtney Williams answered with a baseline jumper to put Minnesota back up by two. Following a turnover by Citron, Kayla McBride iced the game with a pair of free throws, allowing the Lynx to improve to 16-1 at home.

Alanna Smith paced the offense with 25 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Williams chipped in with 14 points and five assists.

Liberty vs Lynx WNBA Pick

New York is second in scoring and seventh in points allowed per game (81.0). On the other side, Minnesota has the best offensive and defensive ratings in the association.

Sure, the Liberty are a 3.5-point favorite. However, the Lynx are 8-1 straight up (SU) in their last nine outings and are 6-2-1 against the spread during that stretch. Given those trends, look for Minnesota to win a close one.
