  • The Indiana Fever occupy the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference with a record of 18-15.
  • The Washington Mystics are 14-18 and have the fourth-best record in the East.
  • These squads previously faced off on Jun. 3, with the Fever winning that contest by an 8576 margin.

One of the games on Friday’s WNBA slate features the Indiana Fever hosting the Washington Mystics. Which team gets back into the win column in our Fever vs Mystics pick?

Fever Look To Halt Recent Struggles

After defeating the Seattle Storm 78-74 on Aug. 3, Indiana has dropped three of its last four contests, including an 81-80 setback against the Dallas Wings on Tuesday night.

The Fever trailed by 12 points through the first three quarters. And a 3-pointer from Washington’s Myisha Hines-Allen increased the road team’s advantage to 17 points (78-61) with 6:38 left to play. Indiana went on a decisive 19-3 burst that included 13 straight points to get within 81-80.

With 1.7 seconds remaining, the Fever had one last opportunity to win the game. Unfortunately, Kelsey Mitchell’s 3-point attempt hit the side of the backboard as the game clock expired.

Mitchell, one of four starters to reach double figures, finished with 24 points and six rebounds. Aliyah Boston and Sophie Cunningham contributed 14 points apiece.

Washington Hopes To Bounce Back From Loss To Golden State

Like its opponent, the Mystics have also dropped three of their previous four games, which includes an 88-83 loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday.

Washington trailed by 18 points heading into the final frame. But an unexpected 29-9 run trimmed the deficit to three points (86-83) with 53.8 seconds remaining in regulation. It was not meant to be, however, as Tiffany Hayes hit a pair of free throws to secure the win for Golden State.

Sug Sutton tied for team-high scoring honors with 15 points and seven assists. Sonia Citron also put up 15 points, while Kiki Iriafen added 14 points and 10 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season.

Fever vs Mystics WNBA Pick

Indiana has the fourth-highest scoring average and ranks seventh in points allowed per outing (81.5). Meanwhile, Washington is 11th in offensive efficiency and ranks eighth in defensive rating.

The Fever won the most recent matchup, but Washington holds a slight 3-2 edge in the previous five meetings in this series. With that being said, look for Indiana to win in a matchup between a pair of teams that have struggled recently.
