One of the games on Wednesday’s WNBA slate features the Indiana Fever hosting the Golden State Valkyries. Which team climbs above the .500 mark in our Fever vs Valkyries pick?
Indiana Looks To Bounce Back From Loss Against Los Angeles
Following back-to-back wins against the Dallas Wings and Las Vegas Aces, the Fever’s two-game win streak ended with an 89-87 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday.
In a contest that was close throughout, the outcome wasn’t decided until the last few possessions. Rickea Jackson’s basket gave Los Angeles an 88-87 lead with 57 seconds left to play.
After Azura Stevens split two free throws, Indiana had a chance to tie the game. Unfortunately, Aliyah Boston’s jumper from the top of the key was off the mark.
Boston scored a team-high 23 points, along with 12 rebounds and four assists. Natasha Howard finished with 21 points and nine boards on 8-for-11 shooting from the field.
Valkyries Aim To Snap Two-Game Losing Streak
Golden State saw its two-game win streak snapped courtesy of a 90-81 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Monday night.
The Valkyries led by 10 points after the game’s first 10 minutes and clung to a four-point lead heading into the final frame.
Allisha Gray’s three-point play and back-to-back 3-pointers from Naz Hillmon sparked a 15-2 run that enabled Atlanta to go on to win the game by a nine-point margin. The Dream outscored Golden State 26-13 in the fourth quarter.
Monique Billings was one of five players who reached double figures. She scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed six rebounds. Kayla Thornton registered 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Fever vs Valkyries WNBA Pick
Indiana is ranked fourth in offensive efficiency and has the seventh-best defensive rating in the league. On the other side, although Golden State is ranked 10th in points per game (79.1), this group has the second-best scoring defense, giving up just 78.2 points per contest.
The Valkyries won the only meeting between these franchises back in mid-June. With Caitlin Clark nursing a groin injury, it wouldn’t be a total shock if Golden State came out on top in this matchup as well.
