One of the games on Tuesday’s WNBA slate features the Indiana Fever hosting the Washington Mystics. Will Indiana end its losing streak in our Fever vs Mystics pick?
Fever Aim To Snap Three-Game Skid
The Fever have struggled without Caitlin Clark, who has been out with a quad injury. The team’s latest setback occurred on Friday night, when they suffered an 85-83 loss against the Connecticut Sun.
Aliyah Boston was one of four players who reached double figures. She led the way with 17 points, eight assists, and five rebounds on 8-for-10 shooting from the floor.
Indiana trailed 74-59, but used a 19-2 burst to briefly take a 78-76 lead with 2:46 left to play, setting the stage for a frantic finish.
Connecticut scored six unanswered points before Lexie Hull got Indiana within 82-81. Marina Mabrey knocked down a jumper, extending the Sun’s lead to 84-81 at the 1:15 mark.
Indiana had a chance to tie or win the game on its final possession. Unfortunately, Kelsey Mitchell’s 3-point attempt was off the mark, which secured the win for the road team.
Mystics Look To Bounce Back From Poor Showing Against New York
Meanwhile, the Mystics recently snapped a three-game losing streak with an 83-77 win over the Fever five days ago. However, they followed that up with an 85-63 defeat at the hands of the New York Liberty.
Brittney Sykes spearheaded the Mystics’ offense, finishing with 20 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
That was one of the few positives from a contest in which Washington was held below 20 points in each of the four quarters.
Additionally, New York’s top-ranked defense limited the Mystics to 28.4 percent shooting overall and 25 percent from 3-point range.
Fever vs Mystics Pick
Both teams have dropped four of their past five games. Also, both squads are top-five from a defensive standpoint.
The narrative is a bit different when viewing these teams from a scoring perspective. Indiana has the third-highest scoring average while Washington is ranked 11th.
In a matchup that can go either way, look for Indiana to edge its opponent by a slim margin in this Eastern Conference showdown.
