Indiana Looks To Bounce Back From Blowout Loss Against Valkyries
After securing back-to-back wins against the Dallas Wings (94-86) and Las Vegas Aces (81-54), the Fever have dropped their last two contests. This includes an 80-61 loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday.
The Fever trailed 41-32 at the break before using a 10-1 run to trim the deficit to 55-50 in the third quarter. But a 3-pointer from Veroncia Burton ignited a 9-1 run for Golden State, which pushed the lead to 64-51 going into the final frame. Golden State eventually extended its lead to 20 points en route to its second win over the Fever this season.
Kelsey Mitchell led the way with 12 points on 3-for-13 shooting. Caitlin Clark returned to the rotation after sitting out the last five games with a groin injury. She finished with 10 points, connecting on four of 12 shot attempts.
Dream Seek Their Third Win In Four Games
Following a 96-92 overtime loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Jun. 27, Atlanta has won two of its previous three games, including a 90-81 victory against the Valkyries on Jul. 7.
Atlanta trailed 26-16 after the game’s first 10 minutes but fought back to cut the deficit to four points entering the fourth quarter. Allisha Gray’s three-point play, along with back-to-back 3-pointers from Naz Hillmon, capped a 15-2 run for an 87-77 advantage. The Dream outscored Golden State 26-13 in the fourth quarter on its way to a nine-point victory.
Gray was one of five players who reached double figures. She led the way with 24 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Hillmon added 16 points and six rebounds off the bench and hit a career-high four 3-pointers.
