Atlanta Seeks Third Straight Victory
Following an 87-72 loss to the Las Vegas Aces, the Dream have won their last two games, including a 90-86 victory against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.
Atlanta led by 14 points (46-32) at the break before Minnesota trimmed the deficit to six heading into the fourth quarter. After the Dream pushed the lead to 83-70, Napheesa Collier’s basket got the Lynx within three points with 11.3 seconds left in regulation. But a free throw from Jordin Canada sealed the win for the road team.
Brittney Griner powered the team’s scoring attack with 22 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Canada added 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Atlanta’s impressive win snapped Minnesota’s 14-game home winning streak.
Valkyries Aim To Regroup Following Embarrassing Loss Against The Sun
After securing an 86-76 win against the Dallas Wings, Golden State was upended by the Connecticut Sun 95-64 on Sunday.
The Valkyries held a brief 2-0 lead. But after Connecticut’s Saniya Rivers hit a 3-pointer, the home team led for the remainder of the game.
Illana Rupert was one of just two players who reached double figures. She led the way with 13 points and four rebounds off the bench. Veronica Burton contributed 10 points, three assists, and two rebounds.
Dream vs Valkyries WNBA Pick
Atlanta ranks fourth in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Meanwhile, Golden State has the fourth-worst scoring average, but boasts the third-best scoring defense, allowing 78.7 points per outing.
The Dream took the previous meeting between these ball clubs. Based on the teams’ performances in their last outings, Atlanta should also emerge victorious in this matchup.
