One of the games on Friday’s WNBA slate features the Atlanta Dream hosting the Chicago Sky. Can Atlanta notch its seventh win of the season in our Dream vs Sky pick?
Atlanta Looks Like A Contender Early On
After seeing their four-game win streak snapped with an 84-76 loss against the Connecticut Sun, the Dream bounced back with a 77-58 victory over the Indiana Fever on Tuesday.
Allisha Gray and Brionna Jones were nothing short of spectacular. Gray scored a team-high 23 points along with six boards, four assists, and two steals.
Jones added 21 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the floor. She also pulled down 10 rebounds. The teams played to a 33-33 stalemate in the first half.
Atlanta seized control of the contest in the third period thanks to an 11-0 run that gave the team a 47-37 lead. Gray converted a 3-pointer that extended the lead to 54-42 late in the quarter. The Dream outscored Indiana by a 23-9 margin during the game-changing stretch.
Flailing Sky Look To Snap Two-Game Skid
Meanwhile, following a pair of wins against the Dallas Wings, Chicago enters this matchup amid a two-game losing streak, which includes an 85-66 setback against the New York Liberty on Tuesday night.
Angel Reese and Ariel Atkins were the only two Chicago players who reached double figures. Reese led the way with 17 points, 11 boards, three assists, and two steals. Atkins contributed 11 points, four rebounds, three steals, and the bench unit produced 27 points.
New York started the game with a 12-0 burst and led by 20 points at halftime. The defending champs ended the third quarter with an 11-0 run and scored the first six points in the fourth quarter, pushing their lead to 34 points (76-42).
In addition to shooting 26.1 percent from beyond the arc, the Sky had nearly as many turnovers (22) as made field goals (28).
Dream vs Sky WNBA Pick
The Dream have the third-best offense and have the fifth-lowest defensive rating in the association. On the other side, Chicago has the second-worst scoring average (76.0 PPG) and is ranked last in points allowed (89.5 PPG).
Although the teams have split the previous four meetings, the Sky have dropped six of their first eight games and do not play well on either end of the court. Given that fact, look for Atlanta to coast to an easy victory when these teams square off on Thursday night.
