One of the games on Saturday’s WNBA slate features the Atlanta Dream hosting the New York Liberty. Which team has the edge in our Dream vs Liberty pick?

Atlanta Looks To Build On Win Against Minnesota

After an 80-78 setback against Seattle, the Dream have won two of their last three games, including a 75-73 victory against the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday night.

Minnesota led 60-54 heading into the final frame before the Dream responded with a 12-0 burst to take a six-point lead. Allana Smith hit a 3-pointer that cut Atlanta’s advantage to two points (73-71). After the Dream committed a backcourt violation, Smith’s jumpshot was off the mark, and Maya Caldwell hit two free throws to secure the win for the Dream.

Allisha Gray led the way with 27 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Rhyne Howard added 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals for an Atlanta squad that shot 38 percent overall and just 29 percent from 3-point range.

Liberty Aim To Regroup From Loss To Chicago

After defeating the Los Angeles Sparks 105-97 on Aug. 12, New York has dropped three of its previous four games. This includes a somewhat surprising 91-85 loss to the Chicago Sky on Thursday night.

Despite Chicago’s woeful record, the Liberty held a slim 66-63 advantage heading into the fourth quarter. Sabrina Ionescu made two free throws, giving New York an 85-83 lead. However, the Sky closed the game with an 8-0 burst en route to their second victory in their last 15 outings.

Jonquel Jones paced the offense with 25 points and seven rebounds on 9-for-16 shooting overall and 5-for-11 from deep. Ionescu contributed 16 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Dream vs Liberty WNBA Pick

Atlanta is ranked second in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Meanwhile, New York is second in points per game and seventh in scoring defense.

New York has taken two of the three meetings this season and holds a 4-1 edge in the previous five matchups between these franchises. With that in mind, look for the Liberty to win, albeit by a small margin.
