One of the games on Sunday’s WNBA slate features the Las Vegas Aces hosting the Golden State Valkyries. Which team has the edge in our Aces vs Valkyries pick?
Las Vegas Hopes To Bounce Back From An Embarrassing Loss Against Minnesota
The Aces were upended by the Minnesota Lynx 111-58 on Saturday. This 53-point drubbing ended the team’s two-game winning streak.
The game got out of control in a hurry, as the Aces trailed 35-17 after the opening stanza. Minnesota built a 67-33 lead at the break and increased its advantage to 92-49 entering the fourth quarter.
Jewell Loyd, who has been coming off the bench the last few games, scored 12 points. A’ja Wilson added 10 points and five rebounds for a Las Vegas team that shot 34.3 percent overall and 30.8 percent from beyond the arc.
The Valkyries Aim To Extend Win Streak To Four Games
Following an ugly 95-64 loss against the Connecticut Sun, Golden State has responded with three straight wins. This includes a 73-66 victory against the Chicago Sky on Friday night.
The game was pretty tight throughout, with Chicago clinging to a two-point lead through three quarters. However, the Valkyries opened the fourth quarter with a 12-2 burst for a 64-56 lead.
The short-handed Sky didn’t go away quietly, as they trimmed the deficit to 67-66 at the 2:23 mark. But Golden State scored the final six points of the contest, which included four straight free throws from Veronica Burton.
Burton scored a game-high 18 points, dished out seven assists, and grabbed four rebounds. Janelle Salaun contributed 16 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.
Golden State is seeking its first four-game winning streak of the season.
Aces vs Valkyries WNBA Pick
Las Vegas is ranked eighth in scoring and ninth in points allowed per outing. On the other side, Golden State has the fourth-worst offensive rating, but ranks third in defensive efficiency.
The season series is tied at 1-1, with each team winning on its home court. The Aces are 6.5-point favorites, but considering that Golden State is 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, they should cover the spread here.
