Las Vegas Seeks To Avoid Three-Game Skid

Following an 86-68 win against the Connecticut Sun five days ago, the Aces have dropped their last two contests. This includes a 70-68 setback against the Washington Mystics.

Las Vegas led 66-58 with 3:45 left in regulation. But an 11-2 burst, capped off with a basket by Shakira Austin, gave Washington its first lead since early in the first quarter.

Brittney Sykes made one of two free throws to extend the Mystics’ lead to 70-68. On the game’s final possession, Jackie Young got to the rim but was unable to convert the layup.

Jewell Loyd finished with a team-high 20 points and three rebounds. Chelsea Gray added 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Las Vegas will seek to avoid its second three-game losing streak of the season.

Defensive-Minded Valkyries Look To Add To Aces’ Misery

After back-to-back losses against the Minnesota Lynx and Atlanta Dream, Golden State got back on track with an impressive 80-61 victory against the Indiana Fever on Wednesday night.

Golden State led by nine points at intermission, and extended its lead to 14 points, courtesy of a 9-0 run to close out the third quarter en route to a 19-point victory.

Veronica Burton and Kayla Thornton were the standout performers for the Valkyries. Burton’s final stat line included 21 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

While Thornton did not shoot the ball well (4-for-15 overall), she contributed 18 points, eight rebounds, and two assists, and converted four of her 10 attempts from beyond the arc.

Aces vs Valkyries WNBA Pick

Las Vegas has the second-worst scoring average in the league and ranks ninth in points allowed. Meanwhile, Golden State ranks 10th in offensive rating, but is ranked second in defensive efficiency.

The Valkyries won the previous meeting between the teams by a score of 95-68. Given the Aces’ recent struggles, and A’ja Wilson nursing a wrist injury, Golden State could be well-positioned to knock off Las Vegas again.
