Las Vegas Seeks Season-High Ninth Consecutive Victory
The Aces are the hottest team in the league right now, having won each of their last eight contests. Their latest triumph includes a 74-72 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday.
Las Vegas trailed 67-57 early in the fourth quarter before scoring 13 straight to take a 70-67 lead. Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard knocked down a jumper to tie the game at 72 with 1:37 left to play.
A’ja Wilson responded with a jumper, giving the Aces a two-point advantage. Atlanta had an opportunity to send the game into an extra frame, but Howard missed a floater, and the Aces held on for the win.
Wilson was the top performer for the home team, as she finished with 32 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. Jackie Young, the only other Aces player to reach double figures, added 16 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Mercury Aiming For Their Third Straight Win
Following back-to-back losses to the Dream and Aces, Phoenix has won its last two games. This includes a 98-91 victory against the Golden State Valkyries on Tuesday night.
The Mercury put up a respectable 47 points, but still trailed by 12 points heading into intermission. However, the second half was an entirely different story. Phoenix outscored Golden State by a decisive 51-32 margin, including a 30-18 scoring edge in the fourth quarter en route to a seven-point win.
Kahleah Copper was one of four starters to post a double-digit scoring total. She paced the offense with 25 points and five rebounds. Satou Sabally contributed 17 points, six assists, and four rebounds.
Aces vs Mercury WNBA Pick
Las Vegas is sixth in scoring and ninth in points allowed per outing (82.6). On the other side, Phoenix ranks seventh in offensive efficiency and has the third-lowest defensive rating (101.7 points per 100 possessions).
The Aces are 4-1 in the previous five meetings between these franchises, and have taken two of the three matchups this season. Given that Las Vegas has won nine of its last 10 contests, look for this group to emerge victorious in this pivotal Western Conference showdown.
