American Taylor Fritz will be carrying the hopes of the nation at Wimbledon later this week, as he bids to upset the odds and reach a first final at the All England Club.
However, despite his impressive run of form, the odds will be stacked against him on Centre Court, as he comes up against the dominant player on the ATP Tour.
Two-time reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz has once again surpassed all expectations to reach this stage of the Grand Slam, and he appears to be a solid chance to set a date with destiny and win the major for a third successive year.

Match Preview
History awaits Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon this year, as the Spanish star bids to become the first player since Roger Federer to win at the All England Club in three successive years. It is worth noting that Novak Djokovic did achieve three straight wins, but the COVID-19 pandemic meant that the feat wasn’t achieved in successive years.
Alcaraz has endured struggles to reach this stage, as he has been forced into four sets in three of his five matches. However, the 22-year-old was at his professional best on Centre Court on Tuesday, beating British star Cameron Norrie in dominant fashion, winning in straight sets and dropping just eight games.
Taylor Fritz will have his sights set on a second appearance in a Grand Slam final after previously losing last year’s U.S. Open final against Jannik Sinner. The American’s progression has gone under the radar this summer, but he has shown battling qualities throughout the competition.
Fritz held his nerve in the previous round to overcome Karen Khachanov in four sets, winning the deciding set in a tie break. His serving was excellent on Tuesday, as he registered an astounding 16 aces. Once again, that part of his game will be his biggest strength against Alcaraz.
Taylor Fritz vs. Carlos Alcaraz Picks
It has been an excellent run to this stage of the Grand Slam by Fritz, but he looks set to come up short against Alcaraz, who has excelled on the grass across the last few years.
But, the Spaniard’s knack of switching off in games could mean that there is value in siding with this semi-final going the distance.
