Aryna Sabalenka vs. Iga Swiatek Preview

Sabalenka’s Route to the Final

Aryna Sabalenka’s quest for a first French Open success will be tested on Thursday, but the star boasts plenty of Grand Slam experience having won three major titles. She has often come up short at Roland Garros, reaching the semi-finals on just one occasion.

However, the 27-year-old has been the dominant player in the women’s draw this year. She has cruised through every challenge to this point, and she is yet to drop a set.

Sabalenka overcame her biggest challenge to date in impressive fashion in the quarterfinals, beating Qinwen Zheng 7-6, 6-3. She won four of six break point opportunities, and won an impressive 75 points.

Swiatek’s Route to the Final

Iga Swiatek has been the clay queen since bursting onto the WTA scene. The Pole has won each of the last three French Open titles, and this year, she is chasing a fifth honor at Roland Garros. Her win rate at the Grand Slam stands at a staggering 95%.

However, questions surrounding her form dominated the headlines in the build up to the tournament this year. But, she has put any doubts about her ability to rest in five stunning wins at Roland Garros. She has already overcome talented players such as Emma Raducanu and Elena Rybakina, while she saw off the excellent Elina Svitolina in the previous round.

Swiatek scored an impressive three aces in that straight sets win, and she recorded winners on 74% of her first serves. She was also dominant when given break point opportunities, converting on four of eight opportunities.

This will be the first meeting between the top two women’s players in recent history since Cincinnati in 2024, as Sabalenka landed a dominant straight sets win. Swiatek has won each of the last two matches between the stars on the clay surface, with both coming before the French Open last summer.

Aryna Sabalenka vs. Iga Swiatek Picks

A fascinating semi-final clash is set for Roland Garros on Thursday, and this could have feasibly been the dream final. Sabalenka has been playing at an ultra-high standard throughout the tournament.

However, Swiatek’s dominance on the clay is challenging to overlook, and she could be the value play at the odds available this year.
