Gael Monfils vs. Jack Draper

The Frenchman’s serve was his big asset in that classic, hitting 21 aces. However, fatigue could play a part against the fifth seed on Thursday.

Jack Draper has enjoyed a coming-of-age year in 2025, which included a first Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells. He has already shown his ability on the clay this year after reaching the final at the Madrid Open. A bold run in the tournament is likely this year.

Ethan Quinn vs. Alexander Shevchenko

We successfully predicted that Ethan Quinn would reach the second round of the French Open, as he beat Grigor Dmitrov following a walkover. However, the American benefited after winning via a walkover despite being 2-1 down in sets.

He is unlikely to have that same luck against another talented opponent in the second round on Thursday. Alexander Shevchenko was excellent in the opening round, as he dominated the clash and won in three sets. He could be a good bet to reach the third round at the French Open for the first time. 

Victoria Azarenka vs. Sofia Kenin

Victoria Azarenka rolled back the years in the opening round of the French Open, winning successive sets 6-0. That win over Yanina Wickmayer was achieved in just 48 minutes, and in doing so, she became the first woman in three decades to win a match without dropping a game.

Sofia Kenin will present a more testing clash on Thursday, as the American bids to reach the third round at Roland Garros for the second straight year. The former finalist could be the smart play this week.

Marie Bouzkova vs. Sonay Kartal

British player Sonay Kartal has already exceeded expectations to reach the second round of the French Open. The 23-year-old was dominant in the opening round, dropping just two games in a straight sets win over Erika Andreeva. This is her best showing at the major, but she could come unstuck against a talented rival on Thursday.

Marie Bouzkova landed a shock win in the opening round to beat 30^th seed Anna Kalinskaya in straight sets. Her ability to limit errors on the court is notable, and she has a fine recent record at the French Open after reaching the third round last year.
