One of the most embarrassing results in the U.S. soccer history was inflicted on Thursday, as the USMNT suffered a 1-0 loss in California against Panama in the semi-final stage of the CONCACAF Nations League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side only had themselves to blame at SoFi Stadium, as they were incredibly wasteful in the final third, and didn’t appear to have the attacking quality to make the difference.

It was also a disappointing night for Jesse Marsch’s Canada, as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Mexico. Canada conceded in the first minute, and they rarely threatened to get back into the game.

Canada hold a decent recent head-to-head record against the USMNT after winning two of the last three internationals.

Their latest win was a 2-1 success last September. USA haven’t beaten Canada in regulation time since a 1-0 success in July 2021.

Thursday was a frustrating evening for Marsch and his Canadian side, and changes could be likely on Sunday.

Daniel Jebbison is pushing for a start, while Tajon Buchanan could be recalled after being named on the bench against Mexico.

Possible Lineup

Canada vs. USMNT Picks

Both of these nations suffered setbacks in their World Cup preparations on Thursday, and a response will be required on Sunday.

However, Canada’s fine head-to-head record against the USMNT in recent years could be the notable angle worth following this weekend.
