- Tennessee was outpaced by the Colts last week, falling to them 41-20.
- The Texans came up short in Jacksonville, losing 17-10 to plummet to 0-3.
- These two teams last met on January 5, in a game that the Texans won 23-14.
A battle of winless teams takes place this week as the Texans and Titans clash to avoid a dreaded 0-4 start. While Tennessee is expected to be rebuilding, a home loss by Houston here would raise quite a few alarms.
Titans Still Slowly Rebuilding
Tennessee continued to struggle in Sunday’s loss to the Colts. They allowed 41 points in the defeat, now ranked 3rd in the NFL in most points allowed. On offense, rookie QB Cam Ward continued to see lots of heavy pressure, though he managed to produce a few good drives. His improvement as he adjusts to the speed of the NFL will be the main bright spot for the Titans this season. They’ll continue their rebuild here.
Texans Desperate to Avoid Collapse
Alarms are close to being raised in Houston, following their loss to the Jaguars. The Texans fell to 0-3 following a sloppy performance filled with mistakes and bad turnovers. 3rd-year QB C.J. Stroud continues to a regress, a trend that is the most concerning with his “sophomore slump” year in the rearview. On the other hand, Houston remains stout on defense, giving them a slim path to victory if the offense improves.
Titans vs Texans NFL Pick
The Titans appear to be among the league’s worst teams as they continue to rebuild into their new era. Picking them to win on the road against the desperate Texans is probably not advisable, but picking them to cover is another story. Houston has scored the fewest points out of all 32 teams, averaging under 13 points per game. Expecting them to win by more than 7 points with that offense is not likely to pay off.
