And Suddenly, the Ravens Are Back in Contention

The Ravens blew a huge lead and lost to the Bills in Week 1. After the Week 2 beating of the Browns, they lost four straight. At 1-5, many thought they were finished. However, victories over the Bears, Dolphins, and Vikings have brought them back into contention.

Now, they are heavily favored as they visit reeling Cleveland.

Keys to the Ravens' resurgence have been the return of Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry regaining his effectiveness, the defense clamping down on the run, and forcing turnovers.

In Week 10's 27-19 win over the Vikings, Baltimore shut down Justin Jefferson, holding him to 37 yards on 4 catches. Minnesota was unable to run the ball.

It's largely useless to look at the Ravens' overall team numbers for the season since they were so awful defensively early in the year and were without Jackson for several weeks.

They need to jump out quickly against the Browns and make sure the game is not in doubt by the 3rd quarter. This is the first of three consecutive weeks against teams they should beat. Next are the Jets and Bengals. In Week 14, they face the Steelers. That could be the decisive game for the AFC North.

The Browns Are Still a Mess and Getting Worse

Does the departure of Chief Strategy Officer Paul DePodesta foretell a pending housecleaning for the Browns?

DePodesta was not fired. He departed, apparently willingly, to take over a franchise that is similarly woebegone, the Colorado Rockies. DePodesta's claim to fame is his portrayal in Moneyball, which he has been running from since the book's backlash within the industry. He did an objectively poor job in his first baseball GM opportunity with the Dodgers. He was an assistant to Sandy Alderson with the Mets. Then, nearly 10 years ago, he left MLB to join the Browns.

In that time, they have had two winning seasons. For the most part, during his tenure, they have been embarrassing in every way.

Will GM Andrew Berry be back next year? Coach Kevin Stefanski?

Given the results, they should not be. But it's the Browns, and very little of what they do makes sense.

In Week 10's loss to the Jets, their special teams were horrific, allowing both a kickoff return for a TD and a punt return for a TD. They could not stop the Jets' rushing attack despite Justin Fields' inability to complete a downfield pass.

Worse, late in the game, when Cleveland still had a chance to tie the game, there were two inexplicable, discipline-based penalties, including the egregious neutral zone infraction, that let the Jets take victory formation and run out the clock.

That's on Stefanski. Period.

Does this staff, from the front office to the coaches, get to run things for 2026?

Ravens vs Browns NFL Pick

In the Week 11 Ravens-Browns matchup, these teams are heading in different directions. Baltimore had an atrocious start and has seemingly recovered. Cleveland has turtled like a finesse hockey player who makes the mistake of picking a fight with a goon.

Although Cleveland has mustered upsets of Baltimore in the past, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and his team know what's at stake. The Browns see where this season is headed, and a new regime is on its way.

The Ravens will blow out the Browns.
