A Rams Win Would Likely Doom the 'Niners' Divisional Hopes
LA has won 3 straight after its Week 5 loss to San Francisco. While that loss would damage their chances at winning the NFC West if the teams end up tied at season's end, a win in San Francisco would put the 'Niners 1.5 games back of LA. Seattle is favored against the Cardinals this weekend, and both teams winning would tie them with LA for the division lead.
In Week 9, LA blew out the Saints 34-10. Puka Nacua returned from injury and caught 7 balls for 95 yards and a TD.

Matthew Stafford was masterful, completing 24 of 32 passes for 281 yards and 4 TDs.
LA is at full strength. Their lone deal at the trade deadline was with the Titans for cornerback Roger McCreary. Vulnerability to the pass was one of their primary weaknesses this season, and they addressed it to a degree with McCreary.

Shorthanded San Francisco Needs This Game
The 49ers have managed to stay with the Rams and Seahawks despite their injuries. They have not been dominant, but are battling their way through, hoping to get Purdy back in the coming weeks.
Although backup Mac Jones has performed admirably and is perhaps showing that Bill Belichick's mismanagement was the culprit in his downfall, he is working in a more constrained gameplan than what head coach Kyle Shanahan would use with Purdy. They are relying heavily on Christian McCaffrey.
In Week 9's win over the Giants, Jones was tremendous. He completed 19 of 24 passes for 235 yards and 2 TDs. He had a passer rating of 135.2. McCaffrey ran for 106 yards on 28 carries and caught 5 balls for 67 yards.

Jones is unlikely to be as hot against the Rams as he was against the Giants based solely on quality of opponent. But Jones was very good in the first game with the Rams, completing 33 of 49 passes for 342 yards and 2 TDs. Still, the 49ers only won that game because LA running back Kyren Williams fumbled at the goal line with just over a minute remaining.
San Francisco's takeaway differential is nearly the worst in the league at -6. Obviously, if they want to beat the Rams, ball security is key.

Rams vs 49ers NFL Pick
The Week 10 Rams-49ers matchup is critical for both teams. The 'Niners need this victory to keep pace with LA and Seattle. LA does not want to head toward the homestretch having lost both games to the 49ers, just in case the teams end up tied at season's end.
These clubs are evenly matched, with the coaches knowing each other well from 49ers HC Shanahan and Rams HC Sean McVay having worked together.
The key for the Rams is to limit McCaffrey. San Francisco cannot turn the ball over.
Expect a close matchup with home underdog San Francisco beating the 4.5-point spread.
