  • The Patriots struggled to score against the Raiders, being defeated 20-13 at home.
  • Miami had a disaster opener against the Colts, losing 33-8 in a horrendous showing.
  • These two teams last met on November 24, in a game that the Dolphins won 34-15.

New England and Miami meet in an important Week 2 clash. Both teams struggled mightily in Week 1, raising the stakes as each team desperately fights to avoid an 0-2 start. Miami holds the slight advantage.

Maye and Patriots Off to Slow Start

New England struggled on offense in their opener, despite facing a subpar Raiders team at home. QB Drake Maye continued to look raw, now entering his second full NFL season. On the other side of the ball, the Patriots defense looked capable, but they allowed some deep shots that cost them. An uncharacteristic lack of pass rushing talent could cause some defensive regression. They need to bounce back in Miami.

Dolphins Flailing After Blowout Loss

The Dolphins had a disasterclass of an opener, getting blown out by the Colts. QB Tua Tagovailoa looked awful, turning the ball over four times, with multiple interceptions that wound up nowhere near a Dolphins receiver. Concerns about Tua’s long-term health and ability following so many concussions have definitely continued to be raised, but Miami has enough talent to bounce back and still make a run for the playoffs.

Patriots vs Dolphins NFL Pick

Miami usually plays well against the Patriots at home, but it’s impossible to overlook their truly horrendous Week 1 performance. It will really come down to whether or not Tua Tagovailoa can get himself righted out. If he’s as inaccurate as last week, the Dolphins will lose again. Ultimately, they should bounce back here.
