One of the games on Sunday’s NFL slate features the Detroit Lions hosting the Chicago Bears. Who has the edge in our Lions vs Bears pick?
Lions Look To Stay Hot Against Divisional Foe
Detroit has won the NFC North division the last two years and led the league in scoring in 2024. However, they were upended to the tune of 27-13 in their Week 1 matchup against Green Bay.
The Lions watched their opponent score on its first three possessions, building a 17-3 lead it would not relinquish. Even more critical, Detroit did not score a touchdown until the fourth quarter.
Jared Goff finished 31 of 39 for 225 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. Sam LaPorta had nine grabs totaling 79 yards for a Detroit squad that was held to 5-for-15 on third down.
Chicago Aims To Bounce Back From Late-Game Collapse Against Vikings
Like Detroit, the Bears also opened their season disappointingly, losing 27-24 to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football.
Chicago appeared to be on the path to victory, leading 17-6 after three quarters. Unfortunately, Vikings’ rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy had other ideas. After struggling early, he helped guide the road team to three touchdown scoring drives in the final frame to pull out a three-point victory.
Caleb Williams played pretty well under new head coach Ben Johnson. He completed 21 of 35 passes for 210 yards with one touchdown. He also led the ground game, accumulating 58 yards on six rushing attempts.
Lions vs Bears NFL Pick
Despite a lackluster performance against the Packers, Detroit enters this game as a 5.5-point favorite. Here are a few betting trends to consider for both teams ahead of this Week 2 matchup.
- The Lions are 14-3 straight-up (SU) in their last 17 games.
- Detroit has covered the spread 13 times in its previous 20 outings.
- The Bears are 1-11 in their last 12 contests.
- Chicago is 2-4 ATS in its previous six matchups.
Given that the Lions swept the season series in 2024 and have won four of the previous five meetings between these franchises, the edge in this divisional matchup favors the home team.
