Giants' Jaxson Dart is Currently in Concussion Protocol

As of this writing, the Giants' dazzling rookie QB Jaxson Dart remains in concussion protocol. His status for Week 12 in Detroit is unknown. Jameis Winston will get his second consecutive start if Dart is ruled out.

New York is in the middle of yet another lost season. They are reaching the point where fans are no longer angry. They're bordering on apathetic. And that is a fate that has long been limited in the Tri-State area to the team with which they share MetLife Stadium, the Jets.

In their first game after firing head coach Brian Daboll and replacing him on an interim basis with offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, the Giants put a scare into the Packers before an individual familiar result (a Winston interception) led to a team familiar result (a loss).

Even after firing Daboll, the Giants' off-field distractions continued as 2025 1st-round draft pick Abdul Carter was benched for the opening series, reportedly for sleeping through a walk-through.

Saying there are "pieces in place" and "they have talent" is getting tiresome while one of the supposedly foundational pieces is sleeping through walk-throughs and has also been repeatedly late for team meetings with no pushback from the now-former head coach.

The only area in which the Giants have been passable in 2025 is their rushing attack, but much of that was accrued with Cam Skattebo as their feature back, and he's lost for the season.

The Lions Need a Win After a Frustrating Loss in Philly

The Lions have already lost one more game, counting playoffs, in 2025 than they did in 2024. At 6-4, they are in 3rd place in the NFC North. The NFC West has three likely playoff teams; the Panthers are 6-5 in the NFC South. The Vikings are two games behind them, but won their head-to-head matchup earlier in the season.

In short, Detroit needs wins against bad teams, so expect them to drop the hammer on the Giants.

The Lions were on the verge of a late comeback against the Eagles, but a questionable pass interference call doomed them, and they lost 16-9.

QB Jared Goff is having another excellent season wth a 110.8 passer rating, 21 TDs, and 4 picks. Jahmyr Gibbs has an MVP case with 732 yards rushing, 334 yards receiving, and 10 total TDs. Aidan Hutchinson leads the league in forced fumbles with 4.

While the Lions were the odds-on favorites for a Super Bowl in 2024, the 2025 squad seems as though it could make the expected Super Bowl run...if they make the playoffs. Whereas everything went right in 2024, much has gone wrong in 2025. Maybe that means their postseason luck will flip as well.

Giants vs Lions NFL Pick

For Week 12 Giants-Lions, the game is an on-paper blowout. New York is a dysfunctional mess, and Detroit knows it needs to secure a win against an easy mark in advance of hosting the Packers on Thanksgiving.

Given their situation, the Giants would be silly to even consider playing Dart. But they're the Giants, and they haven't been known for wisdom in the past decade-plus. The Lions should blow out the Giants and go well beyond the heavy point spread as they look toward the last six games of the regular season that will make or break their dwindling championship aspirations.
