  • Washington easily surged past the Raiders on Sunday, defeating them 41-24.
  • The Falcons endured a horrific result in Carolina, losing 30-0 to the Panthers.
  • These teams last met on December 29, in a game that Washington won 30-24.

Atlanta hosts Washington this week in a key NFC battle. The Falcons are desperately hoping to bounce back after a brutal 30-0 loss to the Panthers, but face an uphill battle against the Commanders this week.

Washington Getting Into Rhythm

Washington bounced back on Sunday in their 41-24 win over the Raiders. It was the first game in which their offense looked as dangerous as last season, an impressive feat to do without starting QB Jayden Daniels. His injury is not expected to be serious, giving the 2nd-year QB a chance at returning for this matchup. If he can’t, Marcus Mariota will aim to keep up the momentum against the struggling Falcons.

Falcons Have Entered Panic Mode

Atlanta appeared to be in decent shape after defeating the Vikings in Week 2, but they had an absolute disaster of a performance against the Panthers. Despite the continued struggles of opposing QB Bryce Young (16-24, 121 yards), the Falcons managed to lose 30-0. It was a wake up call for Michael Penix Jr., who absolutely needs to bounce back this week after throwing two awful interceptions in by far his worst start.

Commanders vs Falcons NFL Pick

Despite the Falcons holding home-field advantage and Jayden Daniels being banged up, it’s surprising to see such a close spread between these two teams. Washington is coming off of a 3-score victory with their backup QB, while the Falcons lost by 30 to one of the worst teams in the league. Atlanta will surely come out with something to prove, but I still see them losing to the Commanders by a touchdown or more here.
