The Browns Are Somehow More Rudderless Than the Jets
Any organization that surpasses the Jets on the dysfunction meter has accomplished something.
It's not a goal any team should aspire to, but the Browns have managed it.
Congrats.
Joe Flacco's performance since his trade to the Bengals adds another name to the list of QBs β Baker Mayfield, Jacoby Brissett β who played for Cleveland under supposed offensive guru Kevin Stefanski and have thrived since escaping.
No words need be said if Kenny Pickett gets into a game for the Raiders and lights it up.
Something needs to change in Cleveland, but what that something is remains a mystery, as they have largely dealt with the same issues since their inception as a replacement for the original Browns franchise, which fled to Baltimore.
As for the current team, their defense is in the top 10 in both fewest passing yards and rushing yards allowed. But their offense, supposedly Stefanski's area of expertise, is 3rd in rushing yards per game, and last in passing yards per game.
So far, Stefanski's preferred QB, Dillon Gabriel, has not been impressive. He's got a 59.9 completion percentage, has thrown 5 TD passes against 2 picks, and has a passer rating of 78.4.
Bear in mind that he's a rookie, but he's also 25, is short for a QB (listed at 5'11" if you believe that), and attended three different colleges over six years. At first glance, he does not appear to be the answer.

If they lose to the Jets, it's reasonable to question to ask how much owner Jimmy Haslam will take from GM Andrew Berry and/or Stefanski and the relentless ineptitude.

The Jets Acknowledged Reality at the Trade Deadline
At the NFL Trade Deadline, the Jets traded away 2022 4th overall pick and superstar cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Colts for wide receiver Adonai Mitchell and 1st round picks in 2026 and 2027, and they traded 2019 3rd overall pick, All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys for defensive tackle Mazi Smith, a 2nd round pick in the 2026 draft, and a 1st round pick in the 2027 draft.
This is a haul and made perfect sense, both to clear salary and to amass draft capital. The Jets are 1-7, and having Gardner and Williams on a roster that might win 3 games made zero sense.
The Jets' win over the Bengals was undoubtedly inspiring immediately after the death of Jets legend Nick Mangold. It removed the onus from Aaron Glenn that the team might not win a game this season.

With the draft picks and the financial freedom, the primary concern is whether GM Darren Mougey can maximize it and do so while fending off owner Woody Johnson and his meddling.
The team was 1-7 with Williams and Gardner. Their defensive performances have been poor. They are ranked 11th in defensive passing yards per game and 26th in defensive rushing yards per game. They're last in takeaway differential at -9, are 24th in points per game, and 32nd in passing yards per game. They can run the ball effectively with feature back Breece Hall.
Justin Fields is not their long-term answer at quarterback.
Against Cleveland's defense, they are unlikely to move the ball effectively.

Browns vs Jets NFL Pick
For Week 10 Browns-Jets, Cleveland has a ripe target in New York's compromised defense for Gabriel and running back Quinshon Judkins to put up good numbers and points. Still, Cleveland has scored more than 17 points once this season.
As bad as the Jets' results have been, they have scored more than 32 points twice. They put up 21 or more in three other games.
Expect underdog New York to keep the game close with a very real possibility of winning outright against hapless Cleveland.
