One of the games on Monday’s NBA slate features the Golden State Warriors hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 4 of a second-round Western Conference playoff series. Will Golden State pull even in our Warriors vs Timberwolves pick?
Warriors-Timberwolves Game 3 Recap
After dropping a 117-93 decision against Minnesota in Game 2, the Warriors hoped to bounce back in the next outing. Although the Curry-less Warriors kept it competitive, they came up short, falling 102-97 and they now trail 2-1 in this best-of-seven series.
Golden State had just two players with impactful performances. Jimmy Butler III led the way with 33 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in 43 minutes of action.
Jonathan Kuminga has come on strong over his last two outings. Following an 18-point effort in Game 3, he produced a 30-point, six-rebound effort in Game 4. He shot 11-for-18 overall and 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.
At the other end of the spectrum, Anthony Edwards was one of three starters who reached double figures. He scored a team-high 36 points, along with four rebounds, and four assists on 13-for-28 shooting from the floor.
Julius Randle chimed in with a triple-double that included 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. He also tallied three steals.
Despite missing their top scorer, the Warriors led by a four-point margin through three quarters, and they led by five points with five minutes left to play.
Unfortunately, they were unable to get the defensive stops they needed down the stretch, as Minnesota outscored them 33-24 in the game’s final 12 minutes.
Warriors vs Timberwolves Pick: Will Golden State Level The Series at 2-2?
Following an unfavorable outcome on Saturday night, the Warriors enter this matchup as a five-point underdog (per BetOnline). Here are a few notable trends for both sides heading into Game 4.
- The Warriors are 2-6 straight-up (SU) in their last eight games.
- Golden State is 2-6 against the spread in its previous eight home contests.
- The Timberwolves are 11-2 in their last 13 outings against Western Conference opponents.
- Minnesota has covered the spread seven times in its previous 10 matchups against Pacific Division opponents.
Like Game 3, Golden State will put together another competitive effort. But without Curry on the floor, this team has to play a near-perfect game, and they have been unsuccessful in the department.
Having said that, look for the final margin to be within the five to seven-point range once again, and the Timberwolves emerging victorious for the third straight game.
