Pistons Look To Shake Off Loss Against Woeful Wizards

The Pistons’ recent two-game win streak ended with a 129-125 loss against the Washington Wizards on Thursday night.

Cade Cunningham scored a game-high 38 points, handed out 10 assists, and blocked two shots. No. He didn’t shoot the ball efficiently, going 9-for-25 overall and 0-for-7 from beyond the arc. However, he made a living at the free-throw line, converting 20 of 21 attempts.

Jalen Duren added 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Ausar Thompson and Tim Hardaway Jr. finished with 10 points each.

Detroit held a five-point advantage after three quarters but let the game slip away in the final frame. Washington outshot Detroit 61 percent to 35 percent and outscored the home team 33-24.

Thunder Coming Off Impressive Win Over Boston

Following a 140-127 setback against the Denver Nuggets on Monday, the Thunder responded with a 118-112 victory against the defending champs on Wednesday night.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander torched the Celtics’ defense for 34 points on 55 percent shooting from the floor. He also tallied seven assists and five rebounds.

Chet Holmgren had a solid outing as well, finishing with 23 points and 15 rebounds. OKC’s big man also knocked down three of his six attempts from 3-point range.

In a contest that could be an NBA Finals preview, the game was tied at 98 before Kenrich Williams hit a 3-pointer that helped ignite a crucial 8-0 run for the road squad.

With their latest triumph, OKC swept the season series against Boston and has compiled 15 victories in its last 18 games.

Pistons vs Thunder Pick: OKC Gets The “W” In Motown

The Pistons have produced six wins in their previous 10 outings and are right in the thick of the conference playoff race. Unfortunately, this group is a middle-of-the-road team at both ends of the floor, ranking 15th in points allowed and 11th in points per outing.

Meanwhile, besides their impressive win against the Celtics, the Thunder are 8-2 across their last 10 contests. They are ranked fourth in offensive efficiency and boast the league’s top defensive rating, yielding 107.2 points per 100 possessions.

These teams have split the season series in the last three seasons. Despite this trend, the edge goes to OKC in this East vs West matchup.
