One of the games on tap from Thursday’s NBA slate features the Indiana Pacers hosting the Memphis Grizzlies. Will Indiana extend its win streak to two games in our Pacers vs Grizzlies pick?
Pacers Shooting For Second Straight Win
The Pacers outlasted the Washington Wizards 134-130 in their last game before the midseason break.
The Pacers’ top two scorers in this contest came off the bench. Obi Toppin paced the team’s offense with 31 points and 10 rebounds.
He shot 11-for-19 from the field and an impressive 6-for-11 from beyond the arc.
Bennedict Mathurin scored 28 points, grabbed five boards, and handed out four assists. Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam led the starting unit with 20 and 15 points, respectively.
Despite owning the league’s worst record, Washington held a 13-point advantage heading into the final frame. However, Indiana came to life down the stretch, outscoring the Wizards 36-23 in the fourth to force an overtime session.
Toppin knocked down a key 3-pointer to give the Pacers a nine-point lead with 1:26 left to play, and they held on to win by four points.
Memphis Looks To Regroup Following Loss To Clippers
After a four-game winning streak, the Grizzlies dropped two of their previous three games going into the All-Star break. This includes a 128-114 setback against the LA Clippers on Feb. 12.
Memphis placed six players in double figures, including four from the starting five. Desmond Bane led the way with 23 points, six rebounds, and four assists, knocking down six of his 11 attempts from 3-point range.
Jaylen Wells added 18 points, while Jaren Jackson Jr. and Luke Kennard combined for 25 points.
Memphis led by 11 points after the first quarter but failed to sustain its early momentum. LA battled back to take a three-point lead into the break.
With just over seven minutes to play in the third period, Kawhi Leonard hit a 3-pointer, giving the Clippers an 18-point advantage (88-70). The home team then cruised to a 14-point victory.
Pacers vs Grizzlies Pick: Memphis Gets the “W” In A Close One
The Pacers are 6-4 across their last 10 outings and rank in the top 10 from an offensive standpoint. However, they are 21st in points allowed (115.6 PPG) and 22nd in defensive efficiency (115.2 Points Per 100 Possessions).
Meanwhile, despite their recent struggles, the Grizzlies have posted seven wins in their previous 10 contests. Additionally Memphis has the seventh-best defensive rating and the sixth-best offensive rating in the association.
Memphis has won four of their last five meetings against Indiana and that trend will more than likely continue when these teams clash on Thursday night.
