The Blue Jays Had a Strong Rebound
After the 18-inning slog ended in disappointment on Freddie Freeman's walk-off homer for the Dodgers, the Blue Jays fought back in Game 5, touching up Shohei Ohtani for 4 runs.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered in the 3rd to give them a 2-1 lead.
Starter Shane Bieber gave Toronto precisely what it needed, logging 5.1 innings, giving up 4 hits, and 1 earned run. He walked 3 and K'd 3. Relievers Mason Fluharty, Chris Bassitt, and Louis Varland finished up with only Varland allowing a run.
Yesavage gave the Jays what they needed in Game 1, tossing 4 innings, giving up 4 hits, and 2 earned runs, walking 3, and striking out 5. He and Toronto fell behind 2-0, but he got through a scoreless fourth, letting his teammates get to Snell. The game ended in an 11-4 blowout.
LA Needs a Better Performance From Snell
Did the drama of Game 3 wear on the Dodgers in Game 4? Ohtani was good, but seemed to fade in the middle innings. Ordinarily, manager Dave Roberts would have pulled him, but their bullpen is also wrung out.
At the plate, Ohtani was 0 for 3 with a walk and a strikeout. The Dodgers looked tired in general, mustering 6 hits and 2 runs.

After a superlative start to his 2025 postseason, Snell was knocked around in Toronto in Game 1. Daulton Varsho took him deep, and he surrendered 5 earned runs and 8 hits in 5 innings.
Toronto will miss George Springer if he can't play with his right side issue. He has a solid history against Snell.
Given his history of big-time performances in the postseason, it's hard to see Snell pitching as poorly in Game 5 as he did in Game 1.

Blue Jays vs Dodgers World Series Game 5 Pick
For World Series Game 5, the Dodgers need Snell to step up and get them a 3-2 series lead when they head back to Toronto.
LA seemed slower, suffering the aftereffects of Game 3 more than Toronto. Is that due to age? The Dodgers' nucleus is older than the Blue Jays'. Most of LA's key players are at least 30. Toronto's everyday players are generally in their mid-20s.
The Dodgers need to make a quick recovery and ride Snell to avoid a trip to Canada on the precipice of losing the World Series.
This will be a close game. The Blue Jays are 1.5 run underdogs and should cover that even if they lose.
