Monty’s Star+1200

Grangeclare West+2500

The big race of the week is set for the final day of the Festival, as Galopin Des Champs looks to join the legends such as Golden Miller, Arkle, and Best Mate as a three-time winner of the Gold Cup.

The Willie Mullins superstar has won eleven from 16 starts over fences, and has been the dominant staying chaser in the division over the last three seasons.

Galopin Des Champs produced a memorable run on his latest start, claiming the G1 Irish Gold Cup by a four-length margin from Grangeclare West. Nothing appears to be close to the nine-year-old, and we could see something very special at Cheltenham this year.

Banbridge has done little wrong for the Joseph O’Brien stable, and he is still unexposed over the Gold Cup trip. If he gets good ground, he could be the one to push Galopin Des Champs the closest. Monty’s Star will be a shrewd pick in Exotics, while L’Homme Pressue could be the leading British contender.

Lulamba+200
Hello Neighbour+550
Lady Vega Allen+1200

Galileo Dame+2000

The G1 Triumph Hurdle kicks off the final day of the Festival, with juvenile runners competing over two miles on the New Course. There have been notable winners of this race in recent memory, including Majborough (2024), Lossiemouth (2023), and Tiger Roll (2014).

Lulamba has been the hype horse throughout the winter for the Nicky Henderson team, but based on the form in the book, he is one of the lays of the week for me. Hello Neighbour has substance to his Irish juvenile form and is respected.

However, East India Dock is the most obvious selection. The four-year-old from the James Owen yard was rated 89 on the flat, and has won three from three over hurdles. That includes a pair of victories on his last two starts at Cheltenham. The most recent of those was an eye-catching display in the G2 Triumph Trial when beating Stencil by ten lengths. Galileo Dame is second choice if she opts to run in this race.
