Race Preview

An exciting renewal of the G1 Bing Crosby Stakes is set for this weekend at Del Mar. There will be extra importance on the race this year, with the Breeders’ Cup taking place at the Californian track later in 2025.

Hejazi will be a red-hot contender for the Bob Baffert team on his second start this year. The five-year-old was narrowly touched off in an allowance optional claimer at Santa Anita last month, but has proven graded form in the book after taking second in the G1 Malibu and fourth in the G3 Fred W. Hooper.

However, there are questions surrounding the favorite’s current ability, meaning that he could be easy to oppose. World Record is the runner for the Rodolphe Brisset team, and he has run consistently this season, which includes a second in the G2 Aristides Stakes.

Roll On Big Joe could be the form angle this weekend after winning four from five starts in 2025. The Robert Hess-trained runner is already a winner in stakes company this season after landing the G3 Kelly’s Landing Stakes last month. However, he is yet to show that level of form at Del Mar in three attempts.

Crazy Mason carries a penalty this weekend after previously landing the G2 Carter Stakes, and that was followed up with a below-par effort when third in the G3 True North. Dr. Venkman has always promised to deliver at this level, finishing fourth in the G1 Pacific Classic last August. Should come on for his recent effort when second in the G3 Kelly’s Landing.

Bing Crosby Stakes Picks

A highly competitive renewal of the Bing Crosby is set for Saturday, but a timid chance can be given to Lovesick Blues.

The Californian-bred runner landed the Siren Lure Stakes at Santa Anita in May and has clocked some impressive speed figures in defeat this season. He also has winning experience at Del Mar, and the wide draw could be beneficial to his chances this weekend.
