Event Preview
The inaugural edition of the LIV Golf Virginia will be staged across the coming weekend on the Saudi-funded tour. The Robert Trent Jones Golf Club will host the event, with the course previously being used to host the Solheim Cup in 2024 and four editions of the Presidents Cup.
Joaquin Niemann will be a red-hot selection this weekend, as the star bids to extend his advantage at the top of the championship standings. Niemann has accumulated 125.52 points so far this season, giving him a near 20-point advantage at the summit.
However, Bryson DeChambeau brings solid recent form to the table this weekend, as the American was a two-shot winner at the LIV Golf Korea event last month. His form has remained excellent throughout the season, which included a fine showing at last month’s PGA Championship.
Jon Rahm could only finish in a tie for seventh in Korea last month, but he remains in third position in the overall standings. Confidence could have been gained from Cameron Smith’s performance in Asia, as he shot under par in the final two rounds to finish in a tie for seventh.
LIV Golf Virginia Picks
Patrick Reed has been in consistent form this season, including when finishing third at The Masters. His performances on the LIV Golf schedule have also caught the eye, including when taking a share of fourth in Korea last month. He could be a sleeper pick at the prices this weekend.
